New Season, New Openings in the House

January 2, 2012
December was a season of new connections and celebration in the house!  We're grateful for all the neighbors and friends who've recently moved into our lives and spent time in the house.

With celebration also comes change.  A couple of our members are moving on, and we have new spaces in the house starting this January.  If you are interested in becoming a member of our community, please fill out the application and email it to 139thstreet@gmail.com

An idea whose time has come

November 21, 2011

Some of our house family has been active and involved in Occupy Wall Street.  Today we stood, walked and talked with the occupiers, accompanied by the Council of Elders (civil rights activities) who came to pass on the touch.

We stand against the structures of this empire that take advantage of the poor, both inside borders of the empire and abroad.  We stand for redistribution of wealth, and an awakening from our greed.  We repent of the ways that our choices, purchases, or privileges suppor...

FOOD!

August 4, 2011
Wednesday house dinners have been a blast... and growing!

The school where I (Amber) will be teaching in September has started a wonderful school garden.  I've been hanging out with some of the students this summer.  Besides caring for the garden beds and harvesting vegetables, they've gone to the local farmer's market, made guacamole, and painted and decorated.  Check it out: ravensgarden.tumblr.com
